Fred Ray Obituary
Weaverville - Fred E. Ray, age 91, of Ox Creek Community, died Friday, May 18, 2018.
Fred was born March 15, 1927 in Buncombe County to the late Roy T. and Annie Buckner Ray. He was hard working all of his life, enjoyed farming and was a former owner of Ray's Paving Company. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Obera Silvers Ray who died in 1998.
Surviving are his sons, Tommy Ray and wife Pat, Johnny Ray and wife Brenda, Mike Ray and wife Holly; grandchildren, Carrie, Melissa, and John; four step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren, with one on the way; four step-great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville. Reverends Al Harrell and Dolph Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of John and Brenda Ray, 26 Mundy Cove Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider a church of your choice.
