Little Switzerland - Hugh Taylor Glenn, age 76, of Little Switzerland, NC passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at The Charles George VA Hospice Center, surrounded by his three sons, after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's) disease.
Born on October 30, 1938 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Taylor Tony Glenn and Nora Mace Glenn.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-five years; Carolyn Mitchell Glenn, sons; Tony Lee Glenn (Nikki) of Valdese, Thomas Taylor Glenn (Candice) of Spruce Pine and Timothy Mitchell Glenn (Joyce) of Little Switzerland, granddaughters; Lauren, Taylor and Rachel Glenn, Andrea Pelzel (Taylor) of Gastonia and Kacey Thomas of Hudson, and a grandson; Samuel Hugh Glenn, a special niece; Kim Stamey Thomas (Andy) of Hudson, brothers; Daniel Glenn of Little Switzerland and John Glenn of Lenoir. A sister; Nancy Snipes of Mt. Holly and many friends and loved ones.
Hugh retired from the Unimin Corporation where he served as union president. He was a member of Black Mountain Baptist Church.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Hugh Glenn on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev's. Douglas Phillips and Daniel Whetstine officiating. Interment will follow in the Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Charles George VA, the staff of Medical ICU and hospice, for all the loving care he received.
