Jack Whitson Obituary
Fletcher - Jack E. Whitson, 87, of Fletcher went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 6, 2018 at his home. A native of Yancey County, Jack lived in Henderson County since 1966. He was a son of the late Malley Marcus and Lula Mae Peterson Whitson. Jack was also preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Johnson, Cleo Byrd, Shirley Johnson; and one brother, Gene Whitson.
Jack was the owner and operator of K & W Engineering and Machine Company in Arden for thirty-three years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Bald Creek Masonic Temple, the Buncombe County Wildlife & Skeet Club, and was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Frances "Peggy" Edmonds Whitson; two daughters, Donna Gail Harris and her husband Wayne and Cynthia Diane Whitson, all of Fletcher; one son, Stacey Lynn Whitson of Fletcher; two grandchildren, Jamie Harris and his wife Kristie if Hendersonville, Cara Pryor and her husband Jason of Hendersonville; three great-grandchildren, Quinn Harris, Madeline and Benjamin Pryor; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 2:00 pm Friday, May 11, 2018 in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Cody Sturgill will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Uncle Jack was my hero.He was a man's man.An exceptional engineer, tough as nails mountain man and all around good guy. His sense of humor and booming laugh is what I'll miss most.His memory will live on inside me forever.
