James Guido Obituary

James ("Jim") Guido

James ("Jim") Guido, 64, died on July 8, 2020 of a sudden massive coronary heart attack. He was born in Waukegan, IL on August 19, 1955 to the late Ben and Lucille Guido. Jim moved with his family to Asheville, NC in 1989. Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Dayna Limperes Guido; son, Lucio Guido in Auburn, WA; sister Mary Jo and husband, Stefan Nitsch; brother Salvatore Guido and wife, Ona Nierenberg; sister-in-law, Donna Limperes; niece, Garnell Limperes Stuart; and a lifetime of friends and colleagues. Jim lived life vibrantly in all areas of his life with the motto, "Passion, Play, and Desire." He was an author, musician, human service consultant, teacher, and coach. He was known for his philosophical thoughts; creative ideas; quick wit; puns; compassionate willingness to help others in need; and had a rare ability to challenge, nurture, and inspire. A master of articulation, Jim composed 23 albums; wrote 4 novels; and 4 works of non-fiction including, The Parental Tool Box, which he wrote with Dayna. He had just started writing the third book in his trilogy on the Art of Living For many years he began each day with a verbal commitment to find joy and ways to savor each experience. Jim was on an ongoing quest to maximize the opportunities that life has to offer and coined the term "bodyfulness" to integrate the body and mind. Celebration of his life will be ongoing and in various formats, as befitting Jim. In lieu of a financial donation towards a cause in his honor, we know without a doubt through countless conversations, that Jim would ask you instead, to experience and share joy with others. "I know you see my celebrating I know you feel me celebrating Come now and join me, in celebration Life's what we make it, celebrate it" From Slow Motion Please remember to celebrate life because there is one less person on earth doing it.

I am so sorry about your loss. I met James (Vincenzo) 45 years ago at an art show. Being his friend I loved his gentle lion heart, creativness, and he was always supportive of others. He will in my heart forever along with his family.

I remember Jim from high school, really good guy. Had no idea he was in Asheville - I moved just south of Charlotte almost 2 years ago. Sorry we didn't reconnect.

I miss him so much, so deeply. Im full of joy for knowing him. I loved the way he listened, encouraged me, challenged me, and uplifted all he came into contact with, including many of my young adult clients and my granddaughter.

Save me a spot please Jim! I want a big hug and to see that sparkling smile again.

Love to Dauna and Lucio. He was and is one of the Greats among us.

Dayna, my condolences on your loss.

Jim was a very good friend of mine, going back to High School. Jim was a good and loyal friend to have; I loved him dearly and he had a profound affect on my view of the world. He was my "guru" for Transcendental Meditation, my student for his early days learning about music, and a sounding board for crazy ideas about how to make the world a better place. Jim was always optimistic about the (eventual) triumph of the human spirit; his light will be missed.

Dear Dayna, Lucio and extended family and friends of Jim, I wish you my condolences at suddenly needing to go on in a world without the force of his presence. I did not know Jim well but more thru a shared friendship with John and Catherine Faherty. I do sense that for those in his circle you have known a very vibrant being and a FORCE, of the most positive kinds.
I wish you each comfort and love, and a pocket full of Jim's vibrancy to bring you along.
Shalom, Sheila O'Brien

Jim, a mentor, a figure in my life that helped me with direction, he was so many great things, he was also an friend, but it was Jim's nurturing side that really elevated him beyond what normal everyday people can only aspire to, he truly will be missed, to his immediate family I as you are in pain for this loss, but we all know Jim, he wouldn't want us to mourn, well for too long anyhow, he had a heart, he would want us to take this energy and live, share the love.
He'll be missed.

Dayna, I am so sorry. What a shock. Jim introduced me to Transcendental Meditation in high school. We were such good friends back then. My mom loved him. He was part of us in high school and has never been too far from my thoughts. The two of you accomplished so much. My heart goes out to you and your family.

I first met Jim on Edisto island when his good friend Ken brought me to meet Jim and Dayna for Thanksgiving 1996. Jim and Lucio and me and Ken played a round of basketball. That would be one of m any gatherings the four of us shared. From that weekend on i considered myself to be a part of this amazing couple. It is hard to believe we will have to go on without him.
