Asheville - Jim Peterson, 88, was welcomed into the gates of Heaven on July 3, 2013

Jim was born in Princess Anne County Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry C Peterson and Elizabeth Biear Peterson; sister Elizabeth Miller, and brother Henry G Peterson

Jim was husband to Elnora Peterson, father to Diane Peterson and Janet Keenan, father- in- law to James Keenan and brother to Theodore H. Peterson of Virginia . He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He also attended Crossroads Assembly with his daughters and son-in-law in the later years of his life. Jim was a World War II veteran serving in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant receiving an air medal in 1945. He received a Bachelor of Science from Western Carolina University. Jim retired from the Enka Plant/BASF where he worked as a Design Leader. For many years he held a second job at Sears; his girls loved going to work with him. When he wasn't working a formal job, you could find him in the garden or tending to honeybees. Jim loved spending time outdoors and with his family in the mountains or at the beach.

A graveside service will be held in his honor on Tuesday 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 51 Wilburn Place, Asheville, NC 28806 or Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, 717 S Marshall St, Ste 105B, Winston Salem, NC 27101

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Oaks for their loving care to Jim.

Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn, Candler is assisting the family.
