Leta Roberts Whitaker

Asheville - Leta Roberts Whitaker, age 93, of Asheville died Sunday, February 5, 2017.

Mrs. Whitaker was born November 26, 1923, in Buncombe County, where she had lived all of her life. She retired from Square D and was a member of Morgan Hill Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Tom Newt and Ethel Carter Roberts and wife of the late J. Wesley Whitaker, who died in 1966. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Cline Roberts, and sister, Virginia R. Morgan.

Surviving are her daughter, Sara W. Wells and husband Johnny of Asheville; grandsons, Blair Wells and wife Colleen of Charlotte, and Wesley Wells of New York, NY; sister, Anna Dillingham; sisters-in-law, June Roberts, Mary Ella Wolfe, Ruby Matthews, and Ruby Lee Whitaker, all of Asheville; and numerous adoring nieces and nephews.

Following Leta's wishes, her graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2017, in Morgan Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Weaverville, with Reverend Ron Brown officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017, at West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville.
