Linda Medeiros Obituary

Linda Marie Brilliant Medeiros

Asheville - Linda Medeiros was called by our Heavenly Father, October 7, 2011 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, NC. She was a survivor of breast cancer for the past 21 years.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jason and her parents, Susan and Norman Brilliant of Old Town, Maine. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Manuel Valeiro Medeiros of Asheville, NC; daughter, Denise Valeiro Medeiros and her husband, Jorge Mario Triana and their daughter Isabella Jae of Charlotte, NC; her grandson is due to be born in November, 2011; sister, Norma Jean Brilliant of Portland, ME; Godson, Eron Gray of Brazil; and Goddaughters, Daniele Gray of Portland, ME, Julie Cahill of Asheville, NC and Valerie Anderson of Pittsfield, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Old Town High, ME., and Empire State College, NY. Linda retired as Administrative Officer of the Cortland County Mental Health Clinic, NY prior to moving to Asheville, NC. She had many fond memories of her many friends in Cortland, NY.

She was a gifted quilter and member of the "Wee-Bees" Quilting Group, Asheville Quilters Guild, and The Asheville Symphony Guild; a Master Gardener and volunteer at the Arboretum. She enjoyed working part-time at the Southern Highlands Gift Shop at the Folk Art Center, her book club and hiking with friends. Max Patch and the Maine Coast were among her favorite places.

Donations may be made to Catholic Relief Services (African Countries); Heifer International; John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, NC; or to a charity of one's choice.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at St Joseph's Hospital and the John F. Keever Solace Center for their wonderful care and to Linda and Manny's many friends for their prayers, support, food and love.

A Memorial Service will be held at All Souls Cathedral, Asheville, NC on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 2:00 pm. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are in the care of Harwood Home for Funerals, 828-669-2977.
