Marjorie Barnes Hester

Frisco, TX - Marjorie Anne Barnes Hester, 79, went to be with her Lord Friday, July 29, 2011.

A native of Smithfield, NC. She was the devoted wife of the late Rev. Dr. Joseph Hester who served from 1986-1992 as Pastor of Missions of West Asheville Baptist Church. Over the years, Mrs. Hester served as church organist, pianist and Bible teacher with young married couples. With all her many activities, her greatest calling was being a wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Hester was the daughter of the late Lehman Wilder Barnes and Marjorie Maude Creech Barnes and wife of Rev. Dr. Joseph Pearson Hester who died March 24, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her son, Joe Hester, Jr.

Surviving are her children, Scott Hester and wife Victoria of Charlotte, Marc Hester and wife Sharon of Honolulu, HI, Michael Hester and wife Suzie of Richmond, VA, Jennifer Steele and husband Robert of High Point and Amy Montgomery and husband Scott of Frisco, TX; grandchildren, Chris, Stefan, Jace, Ashly, Joshua, Jacob, David, Ashley, Jonathan, Kevon, Sarah (Paul), Andrew, Rebecca, Hannah, Zachary, Cati and Madison; great grandsons, Wyatt and Sterling; brother, Lehman Barnes, Jr. of Florida and New Mexico; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at West Asheville Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Livengood officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 PM Thursday at the church.
