Mark Sprinkle Obituary
Paonia, CO - Peace finally came to Mark Edmund Sprinkle, 57, of Paonia, Colorado. He passed from this earth on February 27, 2014, at 6:17am, as the morning light rose over the Rocky Mountains. Jan, his baby sister was rubbing his head as he crossed over. Our warrior may be gone but his stories will live on. He was an avid outdoorsman and always one of the happiest people in the world. If you were anywhere around him, you laughed and always had fun. Mark was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Delta Force, and was the Facilities Director of Ollies ice cream shop and Glennie Coombe Gallery. He was also a master carpenter who built his dreams everywhere. Mark is survived by his wife, Alexandra Kleese of Greensboro, N.C., and "Baby Girl", Contessa Sprinkle of Paonia, who compassionately remained by his side throughout his 11 year couragious battle with cancer He is also survived by son, Sean Palmer Sprinkle of Arden, N.C. and daughter, Crystina Keyes of Asheville; parents, Richard and Frances Sprinkle of Candler; his brothers, Rick Jr. (Jane) Sprinkle of Montana, Keith Sprinkle of Asheville; his sisters, Amy Sprinkle of Candler, Jan S. Robinson (Rick) of Candler; his bruncles, Larry Wheeler (Janne) of Mars Hill, Mike Wheeler (Gina) of Barnardsville; and many more wonderful family and friends than can ever be counted.
A private service will be held at a later date and friends will be notified. Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory in Hotchkiss, CO, will be assisting the family.

Mark was a free spirit. He valued his friends, family and just grabbed life to the fullest. He inspired everyone with his wit and wonderful outlook. I'm sure he tweaked halos and wings as the angels welcomed him home this morning. I hope to follow his wonderful example of living life with gusto till the very end. He personified this poem by Hunter S. Thompson:
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
I can't say rest in peace because I believe he is not resting but continues to live in heaven! Till we meet again, Mark!

Hearing of Mark's passing was like a kick in the stomach. He was always full of cheer and always a kind word or expression. I cannot begin to understand the final trials he went thru. He adored Contessa and thru her, Mark will live on. Prayers to the Sprinkle family.

Remember Mark and Old Bullet? Never failed to bring a smile to my face when I would stop to put gas in my clunker of a car, always a cheerful word from Sprinkle....will miss having him in the world, it was a happy place when he was around.

Heaven's a happier place now. There are so many words to describe how precious my friend was. I was so lucky he came to visit me a few years ago and I got to tell him to his face how much it meant to me in high school and how special he is to me now and always will be. I love you, angel.

Mark was our next door neighbor in the 80s, but we lost track of him when he moved. He was a great guy, always smiling, friendly, kind, and willing to drop everything to be of help. So sorry to hear of his illness and passing.

I can't shed tears for Mark. A happy soul remains a happy soul. I am sure he is in his new live living without pain and going crazy with all the new things he can do with his perfect body. I can almost hear him saying "Hey Y'all...Watch this" He will be missed but the world is a better place for having him for a short time. Family find peace and know that Mark is watching over you. I went to Enka high school with Mark and he was always so much fun to have around. The last time I saw Mark, I was driving Patton Avenue with my sister and there was a car accident. Mark saw it happen and jumped right out of his car to help. What a nice guy. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Mark was my first real friend after I moved to a new school district. He was fun, and loved everything about life. I was fortunate to have seen him last spring when he came thru town. Mark touched the lives of everyone he met, and I will never forget all the good and bad times we went through during his lifetime. All the best to the family. I love you all.
