Nikolaos Kostatinos "Nick" Tasios

Asheville - Nikolaos "Nick" Kostatinos Tasios, 85, of Asheville passed away on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at his residence. A native of Karpinisi, Greece, Nick was the son of the late Kostatinos and Maria Kolothou Tasios. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Maria, in 2011; a son, Panagiotis "Pete", in 2014; several brothers and sisters.

Nick is survived by three sons, Kostatinos "Gus" and wife Wendy; Athanasios "Arthur" and wife, Katha, and Demitrios "Jim"; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three brothers; and numerous extended family.

Nick immigrated to the United States in 1968 with his wife and three sons and settled in Asheville. In 1971 he started The Flamingo Restaurant with his wife and brother-in-law, Gus Fotos, and went on to operate it for many years. He then went on to open The Leicester Family Restaurant in the late 1970's and continued there until his retirement. During his time with the restaurants, Nick served many customers throughout the years who became his loyal friends.

The family wishes to acknowledge everyone who dined at the restaurants throughout the years and their kindness toward Nick and all the family. The family appreciates each and every one of you.

A special THANK YOU is extended to Wendy and the nurses who helped care for Nick.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday May 7, 2016 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with Father Michael Diavatis officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. A Trisagion service will be held at 6:50pm on Friday May 6 at the church with the family receiving friends starting at 6:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 227 Cumberland Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.
