Weaverville - Roger Allen McAbee, 68, of 83 Kennedy Rd., Weaverville, NC, passed away on October 24, 2013 at the John F. Keever Solace Center.

Roger was born January 22, 1945 in Buncombe County where he lived all of his life.

He retired from Champion Textile Inc. of Weaverville many years ago. He was a Member of First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville where he had many family and friends and loved to hear "Pastor Skip". Roger loved camping with his wife, family, friends and his beloved dog "Misty".

He was the son of the late, Judge Allen McAbee.

Surviving is his mother, Emma Shipman McAbee of Asheville, NC; his loving wife and best friend, Carolyn Mackey McAbee of 36 years; daughters, Jessica McAbee Myers (Brian) of Old Fort, NC, Marissa Deifendeifer (David) of Asheville, NC, Terrissa McAbee of Asheville, NC; sisters, Judy McAbee Cranston of Mars Hill, NC, Lisa McAbee Cooper of Leicester, NC, Diane McAbee Brown of Asheville, NC; brothers, Ronnie McAbee of Hendersonville, NC and Larry McAbee of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Cooper Myers of Old Fort, NC and Cheston Deifendeifer of Asheville, NC; many special nieces, nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws that he loved very much; and special friends, Aubrey and Kim Hollar, Steve and Linda Crawford, and Ed and Glenda Wyatt.

Services will be held Monday, October 28, 2013, at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville, NC with Pastor Skip Gillikin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time at the church.

At other times, the family will be at the residence of 83 Kennedy Rd, Weaverville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring to make a Memorial Contribution are encouraged to consider: First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville, NC and the John F. Keever Solace Center of Asheville, NC.

Arrangements are in the care of Harwood Home for Funerals.
