Roy Jamison Obituary
Hendersonville - Roy Livingston Jamison, age 90, of Hendersonville, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at the Elizabeth House. He was born in Buncombe County on May 28, 1924 to the late Wilburn William Jamison, Sr. and Lena Mills Livingston Jamison. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Dallas Jamison and Wilburn William Jamison, Jr.
Mr. Jamison was a longtime resident of Henderson County; he retired from DuPont after many years of employment. He loved traveling to Alaska where he enjoyed halibut fishing, and also to Las Vegas. He proudly served his country in the Pacific Theatre during World War II in the United States Navy, Standard Landing Craft Unit 32.
He is survived by his two nephews, Wilburn William Jamison III, Thomas Bradford Jamison; one niece, Doris Jamison Rudd; great-nieces and nephews, Mary, Allison, Philip, Michael, and Emily; and sister-in-law, Margery Bradford Jamison.
Roy will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humor, and his love for travel and adventure.
A graveside service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, July 14, 2014 at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors.

Roy was my dads cousin. They grew up together. I have enjoyed many pleasant stories about their growing up on Haywood Rd. We visited with him several times, and our daughter and son-in-law got to meet him as well. I left a cap at his home once, and he kept it till we returned. I know he impacted so many people. We are thankful for his service.

Condolences to the Jamison family. What a good, kind & thoughtful man. I had visited him when I was at a conference in Charlotte in about 2009, and left my cap at his house. When we visited again on our family vacation in 2013, the first thing he did was say "I think you left this here," and gave me my cap back. When my father talked about growing up, Roy was in all of his stories. They are together again now.
