Rector
Asheville - Ruby Clark Rector, 92, passed away January 14, 2014 at Woodlawn Haven Rest Home in Mt. Holly, NC after a brief illness. She was born on February 10, 1921 in Sandy Mush, NC to the late Grover and Arrie Clark. Mrs. Rector was a homemaker and piano teacher for 45 years and had been married to the late Robert Claude Rector. She was gifted with making people welcome in her home and with great hospitality.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her son, Gary and wife, Linda, Brown; two grandchildren, Kindall and Shane Gunn and Kelly and Audrea Brown and great grandchildren, Mia and Connor Gunn, all of Gaston County.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, January 17th in the Chapel of Faith at Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn, Candler. The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45AM on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ridgeway Baptist Church, 525 Old NC 19/23 Hwy, Candler, NC 29715

Ruby was my piano teacher for a number of years - what a talented and gifted lady she was, with a heart of gold and endless patience. She became a dear friend to our family during those years and I cherish those memories of her and all that she taught me. Thoughts and prayers to her family during this difficult time.

Ruby was our neighbor for many years in Candler and, she and my mother were great friends. My children loved to visit "Miss Ruby and Mr. Claude". She will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.
