Ruth Drum Obituary

Ruth Inez Propst Drum

Maiden - Ruth Inez Propst Drum, age 91, of Maiden, passed away May 13, 2015 at her residence.

Born June 11, 1923 in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Edgar Propst, Sr. and Vertie Mae Thornburg Propst.

She was a member of Laboratory United Methodist Church and a proud graduate of Lincolnton High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carol Drum; one brother, Henry Propst, Jr.; and four sisters, Kathryn Lynck, Hazel Propst, Maude Beard, and Mary Finger.

Survivors include one son, Timothy Carroll Drum and wife, Sharon, of Spruce Pine; two daughters, Judith Drum Black and husband, Eddie, of Maiden, and Kristin Drum Gold and husband, Roger, of Maiden; seven grandchildren, Maghan Cook, Joshua Black and wife Rebekah, Timothy Drum II and wife, Kristen, Eric Gold and wife, Jessi, Stephanie Drum, Laura Black, and Hannah Gold; three great grandchildren, Noah Gold, Addison Cook, and Harper Drum; and a special friend and caregiver, Emily Mullens.

Funeral services will be Saturday 2 PM at Laboratory United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy Drum, Rev. Eddie Black and Pastor Charlene Hutchings officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will have visitation Friday from 6:30 - 8:30 PM at EF Drum Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658 or to Meals on Wheels.

Dear Family, our love and prayers are with you, Ruth was a wonderful person, and a lot of fun to be with, in choir, worship and fellowship. I will always remember quiet moment in personal visits.
