SAMUEL WRIGHT

HENDERSONVILLE - Samuel Wright, 76, of Hendersonville, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at his home.

A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of the late Willard and Katherine Wright. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Frank Wright. He was a US Navy veteran and a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. He retired from Duke Power after 35 years of service. He loved to garden and was known for his generosity and kindness. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all that knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Norma Jean Edney Wright; two daughters, Karen Thompson and her husband, Roger, of Green Creek, N.C. and Lisa Bivens and her husband, Robert, of Hendersonville; two grandsons, Brandon Hill and his wife, Jessica, of Rutherfordton, N.C. and Mark Bivens, US Navy, of Texas; two sisters, Fairy Huntley and her husband, J.C., of Bat Cave and Yvonne Nanney and her husband, Stuart, of Waynesville, N.C.; one brother, David Wright and his wife, Judy, of Fairview, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at Mountain View Baptist Church on Duncan Hill Road with the Revs. Mike McMillion and Harold McKinnish officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Jim Lee for his compassionate care of Mr. Wright.
