Asheville - Susan Diane Moore Hedgepeth, 55, of Asheville died Saturday, November 10, 2012 in Winston Salem. A native of Asheville, she was daughter of the late Alvin and Marina Moore. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Terry Moore.

As a young girl, Susan studied classical guitar and piano extensively. She was a 1975 graduate of Enka High School and was a member of the high school band where she played the french horn. She attended Mars Hill College for two years, joining their band, continuing with the french horn. It was while attending Mars Hill, she met her husband, Byron Hedgepeth and they soon had a lovely daughter, Jessica.

Very strong in her Jewish faith, her given Hebrew name was Chanah Shulamit. Gifted with the ability to read and sing Hebrew, Shulamit taught preschool at the JCC, taught Hebrew School at Beth Israel Synagogue and tutored Bar and Bat Mitzvah Students. Well known to be a very talented teacher in the Jewish Community, she was a member of Chabad House Congregation.

She is survived by her husband, Byron; daughter, Jessica Hedgepeth Balkin and loving brother, Bobby Moore.

The love of Byron's life and a wonderful mother to daughter, Jessica, Susan was angelic in spirit, a very good person with a beautiful soul. Shulamit has always loved horses.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 PM, Monday, November 12, 2012 at Lou Pollock Cemetery with Mr. Yosi Knight officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Chabad House, 660 Merrimon Avenue, Suite C, Asheville, NC 28804.

Susan will certainly be missed by family and friends. May the God of all comfort give Susan's family strength during this difficult time. We can look forward to seeing Susan again when God makes all things new and she hears Jesus' voice then comes out to a paradise.
