Adele A. Brown, 94, formerly of Swoyersville and Charleston, S.C., passed peacefully into eternal life Monday morning, July 25, 2022, at Trinity on Laurens Retirement Community, Aiken, S.C., where she resided since 2015.
Her beloved husband was the late Senior Chief Anthony B. "Tex" Brown Jr., U.S. Navy, retired, who passed away July 9, 2015. Together, Tony and Adele shared 63 beautiful years of marriage.
Born Sept. 21, 1927, in Wilkes-Barre, Adele was one of five children born to the late Walter George Salis and Frances Yanuska Salis.
Raised in the Blackman section of Wilkes-Barre, Adele was a graduate of the former Wilkes-Barre Twp. High School, Class of 1946.
A dedicated Navy wife of 28 years, Adele devoted her life to tending to the daily needs of her husband and son. As a young woman, she was employed by the former Leon Fernbaugh Silk Mill, Wilkes-Barre.
A woman of great faith, Adele was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, while residing there, and in her earlier years was a member of the former Holy Trinity Lithuanian Church, East South Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Adele was known for her love of bowling, her expertise at crocheting and for her warm, welcoming and fun-loving personality. Her greatest love in life was for her family - she was an adoring wife, mother and grandma. She is now happily reunited in heaven with her loved ones who were waiting so patiently for her there.
In addition to her parents, Walter and Frances Salis, and her husband, Tony, Adele was preceded in death by her infant son, Mark A. Brown, in 1963; her granddaughter, Ashlon Kaye Brown, in 2016; her brothers, Walter and William Salis; and her sisters, Elizabeth Smith; and Ann Keiper.
Adele is survived by her loving son, Scott A. Brown and his wife, Rene Ann, Aiken, South Carolina; her adoring grandson, Logan Brown, North Augusta, S.C.; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the entire staff of Trinity on Laurens for their friendship and wonderful care for Adele during her stay there. They also wish to thank the staff of Regency SouthernCare Hospice Services for their outstanding care during her final days.
