Alan Lapidus, 52, entered into his eternal resting place Friday, June 10, 2022, after medical complications in the Hospital of the the University of Pennsylvania.
He was born June 9, 1970, in Augsburg, Germany, to Kenneth and Marcy Bernstein Lapidus. Alan was raised in the boroughs of New York City by his father, Ken, and Rachel Schram Lapidus, and attended and graduated from New Dorp High School, Staten Island.
Alan's friendly and outgoing disposition led him to many successful roles in sales working with Citadel Communications and most recently as a shareholder/sales manager with Blue Square Builders. During his time with Citadel, Alan lived his dream as being a large presence in the local music and entertainment scene. The musicians and people he befriended during the 90s and early 2000s became his dearest and closest friends. "Metal Al" was most alive when he was in the clubs, at concerts or on tour with them!
Alan was given the ultimate gift of life in 2009, when he received a kidney transplant. He was able to face his health issues with the most positive outlook and never let them limit the way he lived life.
His true love in this world were his three sons. As an avid New York Yankees and Philadelphia Eagles fan, Alan instilled his love of sports in them, coaching them from the time they could walk until his death. His favorite place to be was with his boys at the ball field. He will be hitting home runs for them in heaven while watching over them on the field.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his mom of 45 years, Rachel Lapidus, Harveys Lake; his sons, Jamie, Scranton, Matthew and Kennedy, and his fiancée, Amy Ayre, Dallas; brother, Peter Candrilli, Kunkle; in addition to aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Alan's celebration of life, in baseball and rock band fashion, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Jackson Twp. Park, 1275 Huntsville Road, Shavertown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Back Mountain Little League, PO Box 22 Dallas, PA 18612.
