Charles was always such a kind backyard neighbor to my family.
As for his amazing garden, think about it...2022 and it´s all about "farm to table." It´s amazing that Charles was way before his time when it came to garden to table freshness with wholesome organic vegetables. Some might think of him as a visionary!
Clearly, his labor paid off! Garden fresh vegetables over his lifetime promoted good health & longevity of life. God rest your soul, dear man!

My Dad worked with "Charlie" at Union Paper & Supply for many years. Dad passed in 2006, but I remember those he cared about . I recognized Mr Manganiello's name and wanted to send my condolences to his entire family from our family. You were blessed to have him in your lives for so long storing up wonderful memories. May our two men share another laugh together in heaven!

Our childhood was full of happy memories playing with our `Manganiello cousins´ that shared our block. Our yards connected and made it easy to enjoy the company of Carmella, Louis, John, Jimmy, Ann and Sharon. In addition, we enjoyed the older generation of Charlie and his brothers and sisters, and equally so, the visits to Uncle Luigi´s store, steering clear of that pot belly stove, and visits with Aunt (Grandma to us), Carmella, especially those sitting under the grapevine. In the fall we treasured the arrival of the fruits of their fig tree.
Our cousin Barb Pettinato remembers growing up living in one of their apartments and enjoying the easy access to so many family members. It truly was a magical family compound to have been a part of.
Charlie was a remarkable man and a wonderful neighbor. To both my Mother´s delight and our own, we continued well into Charlie´s older years, to receive a bag of his delicious tomatoes every summer and always marveled at his hard work put into his garden.
The following photos show Charlie at home in his favorite places, his beloved garden, in addition to his fun `man cave´ with part of his incredible puzzle collection on display.
Charlie was a true inspiration to many of us as he never tired from his yard work, gardening, nor his display of kindness to all. He is a true role model of all that embodies a good neighbor and a fine human being.
He will be sorely missed and Amen to the fact that we had him in our lives for so long.
Our sympathy to all of his family members.

Mr. Manganiello, I never met you but came across this wonderful obituary. My father also served in WWII. They don't make them like your generation any longer. Thank you for your service. My sympathy to your family, who was very blessed to have you so long.
