Barbara J. Baer, 90, formerly of Cragle Hill Road, Shickshinny, passed away early Thursday morning, Feb. 17, 2022, at Bonham Nursing Center, where she had resided for the past four years.
She was born Jan. 7, 1932, a daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret Roberts Sims, and was raised in Larksville. She married William E. Baer Sept. 10, 1949, and shared 68 years together until his passing on May 1, 2018.
A homemaker most of her life, her main interest was caring for her home and family. After raising her children, she had worked a few years at Ronnie Dress factory in Koonsville.
In addition to her husband, William, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Gensel; and brother, William Sims.
She will be deeply missed by her family. Surviving are her four children, Margaret "Peggy" Jones and husband, Evan; Allan Baer; Linda Jones; and Gloria Hartman and husband, Edward, all of Shickshinny; grandchildren, Evan Jones III (Brittany), Robert Jones (Kim), Michelle White (Russ), Kenneth Jones (Irene), Julie Jones, Edward Hartman (Maria) and M. Hartman; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Janet Konopczyk (Joseph), Bear Creek, and Arlene Kollesar, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews.
The family extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Bonham Nursing Center for the wonderful care she received.
Honoring Barbara's wishes, there will be no public viewing or calling hours.
The family will have a private graveside service in Sorber Cemetery at Reyburn, Shickshinny.
Arrangements are in the care of Clarke Piatt Funeral Home Inc., Hunlock Creek.
