Bridget "Blanche" Simone, 101, of Pittston, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Aug. 15, 2020, at home.
Born in Port Griffith on March 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine Orlando Amitia.
Bridget attended Pittston schools and had worked for several years at Topps Chewing Gum. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be truly missed by family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carmen Simone; brothers, Michael Amitia and Anthony Amitia; sisters, Josephine Andoloro and Marie Arcarese; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Surviving are her daughters, Rosalie Bellanca and her husband, Cataldo; and Donna Ricker and her husband, Robert, all of Pittston; granddaughter, Christie Lambert and her husband, Justin, Plains Twp.; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Carmen Lambert; sister, Helen Curry, Stroudsburg; sister-in-law, Mary Petersen, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to Bridget's caregiver, Gladys Thomas, of At Home Quality Care; as well as to the nurses and staff at Hospice of the Scared Heart and Wesley Village for the compassionate care they provided.
The family will receive friends and relatives (following the CDC guidelines of wearing a face covering and maintaining social distance) for a walk through visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, 251 William St., Pittston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of the Eucharist Parish, 535 N. Main St., Pittston, following CDC guidelines. Those attending are asked to go directly to church on Thursday morning.
Interment will be in Dension Mausoleum, Swoyersville.
