Our beloved brother, Charles, left this world to be with Jesus Monday, April 12, 2021, with his son, Chase, at his side.
Born July 15, 1952, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Phillip A. Cummings Sr. and Aneila Cummings.
He attended Gate of Heaven Elementary and graduated from West Side Central Catholic High School, Class of 1970. He went on to earn a degree in fire science while living in New York. Charles founded his company, Charles Builders, in 1976, and was self-employed for the remainder of his working career.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Chernavage; a son, Charles Cummings Jr.; brothers, Richard M. Cummings and Francis T. Cummings; and nephew, Jeffrey Nice.
Charlie was a hard worker but loved music and parties with his friends. His nephew, Terry Cummings and his band, Strawberry Jam, often played at their home parties. His good friend Charlie Malarkey was his wingman for all the Penn State games, hockey games and bands that they traveled to see.
He is survived by his son, Chase, Trucksville; his daughter, Aneila, Boca Raton, Fla.; brothers and sisters, Phillip A. Cummings Jr., Dallas; Mary Nice, Mountain Top; Eileen Cummings, Syracuse, N.Y.; Helen A. Cummings, Blacksburg, Va.; John Cummings, Fernbrook; Lawrence Cummings, Trucksville; and Joanna Cummings, Charlotte, Vt.; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for friends and family will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Living Hope Bible Church, 35 S. Main St., Plains Twp., with the Rev. Mark DeSilva, pastor, offering going-home blessings.
