David Cease, 75, of Muhlenburg, passed away Wednesday evening, July 12, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family, after an eight-year battle with cancer.
Born in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late James M. and Sophia Bonk Cease. He attended Harter High School in West Nanticoke. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served in Vietnam as an amphibian tractor operator and was wounded twice, receiving two Purple Hearts.
Prior to retiring, he was employed by J.L. Culver Stucco and Dryvit, the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Plains Twp., and was last employed as a corrections officer by the State Correctional Institute at Retreat, where he retired.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Hartman Cease, in 2003.
Surviving are his son, Charles L. and his wife, Tanya, and daughter, Brenda Cease, both of Muhlenburg; companion, Barbara Sullivan; grandchildren, Sarah Cease and her fiancé, Travis Bonham; Jamison Franklin; and Olivia Robaczewski; great-granddaughters, Lillian Grace Burns and Presley Lynn Bonham; stepdaughter, Barbara Robaczewski and her husband, Gerald, Nanticoke; brother, James Cease and his wife, Judith, Nanticoke; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday from Charles L. Cease Funeral Home, 634 Reyburn Road, Shickshinny, with the Rev. Jim McGee of the Muhlenburg United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Benscoter Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral Home.

I'd like to say I really only remember him being a little bit younger but he always was a nice guy he would give you the shirt off his back he was a fantastic father he did great raising them they were great kids no matter what they care just like he always did David I haven't seen u in along time but I will be forever missed and in my heart rip.
