Doc, Kelly and Theresa,
All I can say is God needed a vet. When He looked down, He saw a kind, gentle soul, so He chose Danie.
When Danie needed an assistant, God looked down and saw his sister Devon, another kind, gentle soul, and thought what a good pair.
You needed them, but God needed them more.
God Bless all of you.

I was very close friends with Dan and Tree since the 1980s and I only met Devon on a few occasions many years ago. I remember her intensity and her laugh. She was a very strong personality as was Dan. I cannot imagine the pain you are going through loosing both of them in such short time. It makes no sense and I cannot say how terrible I feel about this incredibly great loss. I learned about Dan's passing a few days after his funeral and at that time I learned about Devon's illness. You all have been in my thoughts constantly and I can only say that I feel great sympathy for your devastating loss.

Doc & Kelly,
Words cannot even begin to ease your pain, but maybe this poem might help:
God looked around His garden,
and He saw an empty place.
He then looked down from Heaven, and saw Devon's tired face.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were harder to climb.
He put His arms around Devon,
and whispered "Peace Be Thine"
He knew that she was hurting,
He knew that she was in pain.
So He took her Home to Heaven,
and He made her whole again.
It broke our hearts to lose her,
but she didn't go alone.
For part of us went with her,
the day God called her Home.
If tears could build a staircase,
and memories a lane.
We would all walk up to Heaven,
and bring you here again.
All of my love in Jesus name,
Teri

Dr. and Mrs. Bishop, There are no words that could be expressed to take away the pain you are feeling--just know that many thoughts and prayers are being sent in memory of Devon and Danie--God needed special angels so he looked into his garden and picked them--We will all be together again someday but for now know you were blessed with two very wonderful children---prayers are with you...

Doc and Kelly Bishop, you must be devastated, first Dan and now Devon, dear heavens! I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember Devon from your home where I took piano and voice lessons in my childhood, she was always such a cheerful girl, and I remember her showing me her jewelry collection in her room, various necklace and ring trees. I remember her when she worked at Docs and we were bringing one (or more) of our many kitty-kids in for a check-up.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
