Dolores Amerman Obituary

Dolores Amerman, 84, formerly of Kingston, passed away Monday evening, June 5, 2017, in Dallas.

Born Oct. 20, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Harold James Smith and Mary Ellen Hawkins Smith.

She worked as head of accounts management for Polk Direct in the New York office for 16 years before retiring in 1994. She then moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to her family, where she followed her passion in floral artistry.

Dolores was an avid gardener and loved to read. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and all types of puzzles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald Amerman; daughter, Mindi Thalenfeld; brothers, Alfred and Harold Smith; and sisters, Irene Atkins and Mary Carr.

Dolores is survived by her son-in-law, John Thalenfeld, Bear Creek; grandchildren Rebecca Mollie Thalenfeld and Adam Henry Thalenfeld, Dallas; and two brothers, Charles Smith, New York; and Robert Smith, Florida.

A celebration of Dolores's life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Joseph Verespy officiating, at Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Manhattan Beach, Calif.
