Doreen Collins, 87, of Harding, died peacefully at her home Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021.
Born in Pittston on March 10, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Rutsey Dileo. She was the wife of the late Leonard Collins for 61 years.
Doreen was a graduate of St. John the Evangelist High School, Class of 1952. She was a majorette and was very proud to have marched in the Macy's Parade while in high school. Doreen was also a member of the Catholic Daughters and the school choir.
She enjoyed getting her hair done every week by her long-time hairdresser and dear friend, Linda. Doreen also enjoyed playing cards and Yahtzee every week for over 50 years with her best friends, Mary Ann and Marion. They laughed and cried together. Doreen said it was therapy for them. She enjoyed shopping trips to the store with her daughter - for whom was not just the best mom but her best friend. She enjoyed embroidery, puzzles, crosswords, which she did daily, mystery movies, cooking, baking and all kinds of crafts.
She loved being with Len for most of her adult life. She always said God gave her one miracle and that was bringing him home from the Korean War.
In her earlier years, Doreen had worked in a cigar factory, several sewing factories and a grocery store. She loved and cherished her granddaughter, Becky. She was so proud of her. Doreen and her daughter, Mary, had a special relationship, and Mary knew she could always count on her. Doreen loved her son-in law, Don, who helped her and cared for her as if she were his mom. Family was most important to her. She always wanted to celebrate birthdays on the day, loved holidays and mealtimes. She will be sadly missed, for Doreen was the best mom ever and best Gram ever.
Doreen was a devout Catholic and faithful woman; she was a member of St. Monica Parish, West Wyoming.
She was preceded in death were her brothers, Pat, Joe, Nicholas and John Dileo; sisters, Annette Judge and Marie Gable.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Hudock and her husband, Don; and granddaughter, Becky Reggie and Kris Martin; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Dileo; and Isabelle Collins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to Hospice of the Sacred Heart nurses, Hilary, Samantha and Erin, and social worker, Mary; as well as to the Harding/Mt. Zion Ambulance for their assistance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Monica Parish, 363 W. 8th St., West Wyoming. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church and to kindly wear a mask due to COVID-19. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

To my wonderful Mom. I miss you beyond words. You were not only my Mom, you were my best friend. We shared an unbreakable bond. I think of you many times a day. Eternal rest until I see you again. You are at peace because you are with Dad. Love you both, Mary
