Edward F. Gallagher

Edward F. Gallagher, 58, of Wilkes-Barre died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at his residence.

Born March 23, 1954 in Pittston, he was a son of the late Paul J. and Helen Flannery Gallagher.

Ed earned his bachelor of science degree from Wilkes University and completed his master of science in psychology at Marywood University.

Ed's career as a counselor and therapist led to positions in various institutions, including Children's Service Center and St. Michael's School. He previously served as coordinator of special programs at Misericordia University and was recently writing grant proposals for the Deutsch Institute.

A kind and gifted man, Ed was a fan of Notre Dame and the music of Jimi Hendrix, himself an exceptional guitarist.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Sheehan Gallagher, Alma, Colo.; Zackary and his wife, Consuelo Gallagher, Katy, Texas; Nora Gallagher, Goodyear, Ariz.; and Matthew Gallagher, Nacogdoches, Texas; former wife, Dagmar Moravec, Maine; brother, Paul and his wife, Vicky Gallagher, Collegeville; sister, Eileen and her husband, Paul Manganella, Sandwich, Mass.; nephew, Paul Manganella and nieces, Elizabeth Manganella and Moira Gallagher; and his beloved cat, Tommy.

Celebration of Edward's life will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, with a graveside service in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown, followed by a reception at 5 p.m. at the Brown Barn Café, Shavertown.

Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Valley Cat Rescue, P.O. Box 242, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18703.
