Edward Ostrowski Obituary

Edward (Sheba) L. Ostrowski, 83, of Avoca died Tuesday in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, after being stricken ill.

Born in Avoca on Sept. 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary Hornick Ostrowski.

He attended Avoca schools and was later drafted in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers Infantry.

He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Avoca; West Side Social Club, Avoca; and a standing member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8335, Avoca. Retired, he was employed for over 30 years by Westinghouse, Bloomfield, N.J.

He was the husband of the late Ann Margaret Andruzis, who died in 1989.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Raymond, Joseph, Theodore and Louis Jr.

Surviving are sons, Edward Jr. and Robert, both of Avoca; Michael and his wife, Roseanne, Sugar Notch; daughter, Patricia Strubeck, Avoca; five grandchildren, Michael Ostrowski, Coconut Creek, Fla.; David Ostrowski, West Wyoming; Joseph and Laura Strubeck, Avoca; Lisha Pegarelli, Warrior Run; great-granddaughter, Ava Rose Jesso. Also surviving are brothers, Norman, West Wyoming; Chester, Springbrook; Eugene, Duryea; sisters, Jean Stelma, Dolores Policare and Theresa Tripus, all of Avoca; Shirley Czaja, Clarks Summit; numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 from Ruane and Regan Funeral Home, 1308 Grove St., Avoca, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Main Street, Avoca, with the Rev. Mark Bochinski officiating.

Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Moosic. Friends may call Friday, 5 to 8 p.m.
