Elizabeth Figg Obituary

Elizabeth "Betsy" Prokopchak Figg - "EB" to friends - died at her home in West Pittston on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022.

Betsy was a gifted singer, musician, songwriter and entertainer. She toured the country and often performed on cruise ships, delighting crowds all across the country and around the world. EB Nickels, her stage name, had a magical way of making friends and bringing joy everywhere she went. In addition to her incredible voice, she was an accomplished musician who played many instruments, including her prized Gibson guitars, the piano, harmonica, drums and more.

Betsy graduated from UC San Diego and began studying law before her love of music set her on a musical path. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of popular music that mesmerized audiences with her ability to sing almost any song requested and recognize a song from someone humming just a few bars. Friends and family called her the "Human Jukebox."

After retiring from her successful music career, Betsy studied naturopathic medicine and found she had an extraordinary gift for healing. Those who had the good fortune of working with her considered her a true empath because of her ability to draw out the physical and emotional pain of others. As her greatest act of kindness and love, Betsy spent ten dedicated years taking care of her mother, Kathryn, and was there holding her hand when Kathryn passed away.

Betsy is survived by her sisters, Kathy, Andrea, Linda and Anusha; by her brothers, Nicholas and John; and by her many nieces and nephews.

She was beloved by many, admired by those who knew of her incredible talents, her deep compassion for others, the warmth of her spirit and the gentleness of her soul. Our dear, dear Betsy will be greatly missed by friends and family who experienced the sweet joys that came from knowing and loving her. Thank you, Betsy, for all the goodness you brought to the world.

Your light has gone from this world, but it shines in so many hearts you touched. I´m so thankful our paths crossed.
I´ll find you in the morning sun
And when the night is new
I´ll be looking at the moon
But I´ll be seeing you.
