George C. Selden, 67, of Duryea, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, at his home.
He was born in Duryea on April 3, 1954, the son of George V. Selden and the late Jean Rogers Casella.
George was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea. He was a 1972 graduate of Pittston Area High School and attended Luzerne County Community College.
In his younger years, he worked for the ACME Supermarket, Avoca, and then became the owner and operator of the PC Annex Restaurant, Scranton. In 1994, George and his wife, Janet, became owners and operators of Sunshine Direct Travel Agency, Moosic.
George was so proud of his daughter and all of her accomplishments. He immensely enjoyed being able to offer her the opportunity to see and experience the world.
George was known to be extremely dedicated to the travel business; he worked tirelessly to help all of his customers and family however and whenever possible.
George will be sadly missed by his best friend and wife, Janet, his daughter, Ashlynn and his family.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Joseph Casella; his stepbrother, Ken Budnovitch; his father-in-law, Charles C. Rydzy; brother-in-law, John B. Bauman; and his cousin, Beth Kelly.
In addition to his father, George is survived by his wife of 31 years, Janet Rydzy Selden; his daughter, Ashlynn Selden, at home; stepmother, Margaret Selden; sisters, Cammie Anderson and her husband, Michael, Duryea; Eva Thomas and her husband, Jim, Duryea; his stepsister, Margaret Gray, Duryea; and step-brother, George Budnovitch, Virginia; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Rydzy; sisters-in-law, Debra Washney and husband, Bruce, Dupont; Betty Ann Bauman, Duryea; Nancy Rydzy Wilson and husband, Sheddrick, New York; and Linda Hoffmann and husband, Todd, Dupont; brothers-in-law, Charles J. Rydzy and his wife, Meghan, Maryland; and Bruce Rydzy and his wife, Kim, Dupont; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Nativity of Our Lord Parish Church, 127 Stephenson St., Duryea, with the Rev. Michael Bryant officiating.
Arrangements are by Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.
