Gloria Jean Mazur Ricko, 81, affectionately known as "Babe & Nana," passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024, in Wilkes-Barre.
Born on Nov. 17, 1942, in Nanticoke, Gloria lived a life marked by devotion to her family and her community.
Gloria graduated from Plymouth High School before embarking on a rewarding career in nursing. She completed her training at Nesbitt Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at Nesbitt Hospital, where she was known for her compassionate care and dedication to her patients.
In addition to her professional achievements, Gloria was deeply invested in her personal passions and interests. She loved dancing with her husband, traveling to visit her children and grandchildren, cooking, shopping for the holidays, and gardening. Her creativity shone through in the personal gifts she crafted for her loved ones during the festive seasons.
Gloria's commitment to her faith was evident in her active participation at All Saints Parish, Plymouth. Her spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence, providing her with strength and comfort throughout her years.
Gloria is her survived by her best friend and husband of 60 years, Thomas J. Ricko; daughter, Robin Violi (Domenick); grandchildren, James Scounton III, Sarah Hawley (Brandyn); great-grandson, Liam Hawley; son, Thomas J. Ricko II (Pamela); grandchildren, Thomas (Trey) J. Ricko III and Kiersten Ricko; son, Michael Ricko (Amy); grandchildren, Cody Ricko and Haley Ricko; daughter, Heidi McCracken (Paul); grandchildren, Riley McCracken and Jonah McCracken; son, Paul Ricko (Karina); grandchildren, Gehrig Ricko (Autumn); great-grandchildren, Elijah & Luke; grandchildren, Peyton Ricko & Nathan Ricko; sister, Beverly Brunozzi (David); numerous nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Mazur; brother, Frank (Buddy) Mazur Jr.; great-grandson, Nolan Hawley; and brother-in-law, Arnild Mascioli.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Gloria will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in All Saints Parish, 66 Willow St., Plymouth, followed by interment in St. Mary's Nativity Cemetery, Plymouth Twp. Family and friends are invited to visitation from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the church.
Gloria's life will be celebrated and remembered for the joy, care, and love she brought to every life she touched.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to S.J.Grontkowski Funeral Home, Plymouth.
