Harriet T. Gray

Harriet T. Gray, less than two weeks shy of her 100th birthday, of Kingston, died at home Tuesday morning, Jan. 26, 2016, with loving family by her side.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Isadore and Mollie Feuerman Thalenfeld, was a graduate of Meyers High School and attended Bucknell Junior College for one year.

Harriet co-owned and operated the Fashion Youth Center and was a member of Temple Israel, its sisterhood, the Jewish Council of Women, Hadassah, the Jewish Community Center and many other civic and religious organizations.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Philip Gray; her son, Jonathan E. Gray; and her seven siblings, Arnold Thalenfeld, Freda Popky, Henry Thalenfeld, Sarah Shaffer, Ethel Cutler, Bernard Thalenfeld and David Thalenfeld.

Harriet is survived by her daughter, Esther Gray Peacock, and son-in-law, Robert, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Gray, New York City; grandchildren, Jordan Gray, Zachary Gray, Wesley Peacock and Samuel Peacock; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday from Rosenberg Funeral Chapel Inc., 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre, with Rabbi Larry Kaplan and Cantor Ahron Abraham officiating.

Interment will follow in Temple Israel Cemetery, Swoyersville. Shiva will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at 600 Meadowland Ave., Kingston.
