Irene D'Angelo Obituary

Irene R. Regni D'Angelo, 95, formerly of West Pittston, passed away surrounded by family Saturday, July 3, 2021.

Irene was the daughter of the late Marino Regni and Josephine Poli Regni of Old Forge. She graduated from Old Forge High School and went on to work in the local garment industry. In January 1949, she married the late Anthony R. D'Angelo, with whom she enjoyed a life filled with love, laughter and music for more than 70 years.

In 1979 at the age of 54, Irene turned a lifelong hobby into a career when she graduated from the Jerrytone School of Beauty Culture. She went on to operate her own beauty shop, which served clients from West Pittston and the surrounding areas for more than 20 years.

Having an ear for music and love of song, Irene performed with the Sweet Adelines and watched Tony perform in 55 years-worth of barbershop harmony shows. They could most often be found sharing a pot of coffee at their kitchen table, greeting passersby on "the porch" and enjoying time together on the dance floor.

She and Tony were the parents of two daughters, Renee, married to Sam Giunta; and Ilene, married to Frank DeMola; the grandparents of Bridget Giunta, married to Steven Husted; and David DeMola; and were the great-grandparents of Henry Husted. Also surviving are her nephews, Jim D'Angelo and Jerry Regni. She is preceded in death by her husband, Anthony D'Angelo; brother, Gerald Regni; and niece, Denise Regni.

Irene's family thanks the professionals of the Mercy Center Nursing Unit and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the care, compassion and comfort they extended over the last two years. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mercy Center Nursing Unit in Dallas or the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Wilkes-Barre.

Funeral services are in the care of Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Twp.

Viewing hours will be held 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston, with Mass immediately following.

Tom and I were so very lucky to have had this wonderful woman in our lives even though it was but a brief period of time. She is missed very much.

Irene was a wonderful woman. She was kind, considerate, loving and gave great hugs and always made you feel loved and a part of a family. I miss her. All of us that knew her hold her in our hearts and the memories of her make us smile. I'm grateful for the time I had with her. Love to her in Heaven.
