James Fela, 66, of Avoca, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at Allied Hospice Center Meade Street Wilkes-Barre.
He was born in Taylor Hospital, Jan. 15, 1958, and was the son of Rosann George Fela and the late James Fila.
Jim was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, Avoca. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1975. He worked for several local businesses in his younger years and was employed at the Eureka Stone Quarry for many years working at its many locations. Jim was a member of the West Side Social Club, Avoca, and the Duryea American Legion.
James was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboy's and was a classic car enthusiast who enjoyed restoring his 1985 Corvette. James was a loving husband, son and friend, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Joanne Phillips.
He is survived by his mother, Rosann, Avoca; wife of 37 years, Janet Yurkanin Fela; and pet cats, Tiger and Angel.
Jim's family would like to thank Dr. Darlene Dunay and many of the doctors, nurses and staff who had taken excellent care of Jim over the last nine years.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 E. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
A visitation and Mass of Christian Burial were held in Queen of the Apostles Parish Church, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca, with the Rev. Phillip Sladicka officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca.
