Jane Sennett Obituary

Jane A. Sennett, 74, of Bear Creek, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at Residential Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Kingston, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Baran Olinatz. She was a graduate of Lake-Lehman High School. She furthered her education by completing the practical nurse program at the Wilkes-Barre City School of Practical Nursing. She had a brief career as an Eastern Airlines stewardess after graduating from Eastern's In-Flight Training Center, Miami, Fla. Jane later earned her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in nursing from College Misericordia, Dallas. She loved teaching and was a clinical instructor for the Luzerne County Community College Nursing program. After working in various areas of nursing for more than 50 years, Jane retired as the night supervisor at Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia, in 2018.

She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Nursing was her career, but most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Nurse Jane always shared her medical knowledge, resources and big heart.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 52 years, William L. Sennett Sr.; children, Randi Piascik and husband, Steven; William "Billy" Sennett Jr. and wife, Danielle; and Michael "Mikey" Sennett and wife, Eileen; grandchildren, Madison, Matthew, Evan, Adam, Myra and Anna; sisters, Nanette Morris; Susan Barry; and husband, Frank; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday in St Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 695 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be private in St. Mary's Byzantine Cemetery, Dallas.

Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Daniel J. Hughes Funeral & Cremation Service, 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.

Said Good-bye today. A wonderful nurse, a strong woman, a treasured friend. Thank you Jane for the 25 years of memories. Loved working side by side with you in the STICU & finishing our last days at Hahnemann as nursing supervisors together. Learned a lot from you, shared many of life’s milestones together, both happy and sad times, & enjoyed lots of laughs on a daily basis. Her family was most important in her life & always had stories and pictures to share as a proud grandmom! My Deepest sympathies to the Sennett Family. May you gain comfort and strength to help during this difficult time. Jane will always have a special place in my heart.

Janey, how to describe the wonderful person, great friend, and extraordinary Nurse, who has been in my life for more than 20yrs. Words seem shallow and empty to describe the brightness of who you are. Heaven has gained, and earth has lost a wonderful spirit, unique and irreplaceable. You helped me as a new nurse and were a endless source of wisdom and guidance throughout our friendship and working relationship. YOU will be deeply missed. You are now on a new journey and adventure; you so loved to travel and see the world. Now you have a whole new world to explore. I cannot wait to hear your stories when we meet again. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, whom you talked so much of over the years and were beaming with pride and love. They are your glorious legacy.

I worked the night shift in the OR at Hahnemann for 27 years. It wasn't until maybe 2016 or 17 that I realized her and I had much in common. Im from Hazleton and would spend my 3 days in Philly go home for 4, repeat. I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with Jane, seeing her familiar face and hearing that distinctive voice. She was part of our team at Hahnemann and I will always remember her fondly. She was a great nurse.
I am so sad to hear her retirement years have been cut short. Blessings and peace to her family.

What shocking news to hear my friend And coworker has passed. My dear Jane, words can’t express all the laughs and good times we shared. You were an excellent mentor and always were so full of energy. You ran circles around most everyone with your peppy attitude. I was honored to have worked along side you at Hahnemann and Mercy Fitzgerald. I thank you for one of my greatest gifts, my husband. For it was you who made that all happen. I love you and I will forever be grateful for ever knowing such an amazing person like you. The world is that much darker without your beautiful soul and your bling. Xoxox god bless your family! :,(
