Jean A. (Mary Regina McGarry) Conlon, 90, of Inkerman passed away Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.
Jean was born Jan. 25, 1931, to the late Joseph and Mary Fahey McGarry, Pittston. She was a graduate of St. John's High School, Pittston, in 1948.
Jean attended business school and was employed at Pittston Hospital then the Middle Department Association of Fire Underwriters until her marriage.
Jean moved to Inkerman when she was 19 years old and there she met the love of her life, Jimmy Conlon. Jean married Jimmy in 1954 and they were married for 58 years before his death in 2013. The couple was blessed with five children and that was Jean's full-time job until 1970 when she took on a second job with Jimmy. They started NE Penn Savage Co. and worked side by side, day and night for 35 years until they sold the business in 2006.
While running a business and taking care of her family, Jean also took wonderful care of her aging parents who resided with her for eight years. Jean set an example of love and hard work in everything she did.
Jean was a member of St Mark's Church, Inkerman, until it closed and merged with St. Maria Goretti, Laflin. Jean was very devoted to her faith and church. She was always active in her parish.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a brother, Leo P. McGarry; and daughter-in-law, Colleen Conlon.
Jean is survived by her five children, James III, Inkerman; Mary Jo and her husband, Richard Pacchioni, Old Boston; William and his wife, Maureen, Inkerman; Maureen and her husband, Joseph Fetchko, Pittston Twp.; and Robert and his wife, Karen, Inkerman. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Kathryn Conlon O'Boyle; James L. Conlon IV; Kelly Conlon Orzello; Mary Kate Conlon Johnson; William J. Conlon Jr.; Michael Conlon; Megan Conlon; and Molly Jean Fetchko; and eight great-grandchildren, Flynn James; Ainsley Jean and Nolan Patrick O'Boyle; Patrick Michael; Daniel Joseph and Rosalie Bridget Johnson; and Richard Leo and Elizabeth Grace Orzello; brother, Joseph McGarry (Barbara) Martinsville, N,J. and sister, Marianne Roche (Frank), Martinsburg, W.Va.; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews.
The family would especially like to thank Jean's loving aides, Joan, Denise, Liz, Heather, Judy, Jeanette and Ann Marie; as well as the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Adonizio Funeral Home LLC, 251 William St., Pittston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church Monday morning. Interment will be in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Pittston.
Memorial donations may be made to Care and Concern Ministries of St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William St., Pittston.
