Ann Pomponio Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Inc. on Jan. 4, 2026.
Ann Marie Pomponio (née Gilroy) was a woman of deep faith, unwavering devotion, and boundless love for her family. A lifelong Catholic, Ann lived her faith daily, always ready to support family and friends with heartfelt prayers, kind words, and a generous spirit.
Ann was born in Inkerman, Pennsylvania, grew up in Belleville, New Jersey, and made her home in Leonardo, New Jersey, where she lived for 62 years. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.
Ann was a dedicated educator and spent 17 years as a fourth-grade teacher at St. Agnes School in Atlantic Highlands. Teaching was more than a profession for her-it was a calling. She touched the lives of countless students with patience, kindness, and a strong foundation of faith and learning.
She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Pomponio and a devoted mother whose greatest joy was her family. Ann was predeceased by her cherished daughter, Linda Kamor, whom she held forever in her heart.
Ann is survived by her loving children: Thomas Pomponio of Reisterstown, Maryland; Susan Ryan of Neptune, New Jersey; and Diane Katz and her husband Jeff of Manalapan, New Jersey. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Evan Ryan of Manchester, New Hampshire; Jeremy Katz of Rahway, New Jersey; Kelsey Ryan of Sea Girt, New Jersey; and Jennifer Katz of Howell, New Jersey.
Ann will be remembered for her quiet strength, her compassionate heart, and her steadfast faith. She was a source of comfort to many and leaves behind a legacy of love, prayer, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Ann's family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her beloved husband Anthony, her beautiful daughter Linda, and her loving parents, Mary and Joseph Gilroy, resting in eternal peace.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 6, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Church in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Middletown, New Jersey.
