Frank Walsh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Inc. on Feb. 23, 2026.
Frank M. Walsh, 79, of Port Monmouth, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at CareOne at Wall surrounded by his family.

Born in Jersey City to Frank and Lorraine Walsh, Frank grew up alongside his siblings, Thomas and Lorraine. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1964. Shortly thereafter, he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966 and was stationed in Germany.

In 1969, Frank began his distinguished career with Morgan Guaranty Trust Company (JP Morgan), where he rose to the position of Vice President before retiring in 2001. Never one to sit still, he began spending his summers in 2002 working with the National Park Service at Sandy Hook as a fee collector, continuing through 2024. Frank was beloved by his colleagues, who honored him each year with an annual "Frank Walsh Day." He loved arriving early to raise the flag and formed countless friendships with coworkers and visitors alike.

Frank lived in Middletown for 48 years and was well known throughout the community. Most mornings, he could be found at Sungate Deli (Quakies), enjoying coffee and conversation with friends. On Friday and Saturday evenings, he and Theresa were often at Outback Steakhouse, where Frank was known to spend more time talking than eating.

Frank and his beloved wife Theresa shared 54 wonderful years of marriage filled with travel and adventure. While their children were young, the family spent ten consecutive summers vacationing in Wildwood with close friends, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. In later years, Frank and Theresa especially enjoyed cruising and often took multiple trips each year, making friends wherever they went. A devoted sports fan, Frank loved college basketball, traveling to multiple Final Fours and proudly holding season tickets to the Seton Hall Pirates for 33 years. He also attended multiple Pro Bowl games in Hawaii, combining his love of football with his joy of travel.
Above all, Frank cherished his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, often watching them and helping with homework. Known for his outgoing personality, generosity, and willingness to help others, Frank made friends wherever he went. As many say, everyone who knew him has a "Frank story."
Frank was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Lorraine Walsh. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Theresa Walsh; his children, Terri Rufo (Daniel Johnson), Michele Yetman (Christopher), and Michael Walsh (Nicole Romano and her daughter Olive) ; his cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Rufo, Hope and Emily Yetman, and Brennan Walsh; his siblings, Thomas and Lorraine; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Frank's warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege to know and love him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 4 to 8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 10 am at Mary Mother of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Rd., New Monmouth. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Tunnel to Towers Foundation . The family wishes to thank CareOne at Wall especially the nurses and aides who became friends with Frank while providing exceptional care.
