Jean Leandri, 97, of North Walnut Street, Luzerne, died peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024.
A lifelong resident of Luzerne, Jean was the daughter of Caroline and Jacob Blassic. She graduated from Luzerne High School, Class of 1945, and remained a loyal member of Holy Family Parish in Luzerne.
Jean was a loving and devoted homemaker, wife and mother. She loved caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was cherished by her loving husband, Rudy (deceased); sons and daughters, William and wife, Christine (and Paula, deceased); Linda (deceased); Norma and husband, Tom Swartwood; Rick (deceased) and wife, Vicki; Elena and partner, Jerome Crilley (deceased); David and wife, Susan; Daniel and wife, Kathy. She was blessed with the love of 16 grandchildren, Dr. Holly Leandri-May, Mandy Leandri-Babcock, Samantha Alesi, Allison Leandri-Kustrin; Joshua Wardell; Jacob Swartwood, Jesse Swartwood; Dr. Paul Leandri, Cameron Leandri and Stephanie Ehrenberger; Nathan Leandri and Benjamin Leandri; Alexandra Leandri, Melissa Dross, Kara Grace Leandri (deceased), and James Leandri; 11 great-grandchildren who all adored their Nanny; and many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Glaser.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Cmdr. Robert Blassic; and sister, Delores Yakus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Parish, Bennett Street, Luzerne. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Parish, Luzerne; Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore; American Cancer Society; or ALS Association.
