Joan Fay McHenry Scavone, 90, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter Megan and son-in-law John Nargoski.
Born March 4, 1930, in Plains Twp., she was the daughter of the late Harlon and Minnie Ralston McHenry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Phillip R. Scavone; grandson, Austin Vosburg; and sisters, Reda Hydock and Audrey Watkins.
Joan was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School and Wyoming Seminary preparatory school, where she studied to become a legal secretary.
Joan worked as a secretary for Lawery Law Firm for a short time before becoming a full time mother and homemaker.
Joan will be remembered as a sweet loving woman who was a wonderful mom, wife, mom-mom and friend. Her children always came first in her life and they were never without her support and love.
Many things Joan enjoyed aside from family time were cooking, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and watching the Game Show Network.
Joan has joined her husband Phillip in heaven for their 68th wedding anniversary on Oct. 31.
Surviving are, sons, Phillip G. Scavone and wife, Christine, Edwardsville; and Gary Scavone, Kingston; daughters, Joann and husband, Albert Vosburg, Tunkhannock; Pamela and husband Peter Monka, Wilkes-Barre; and Megan and John Nargoski, Wilkes-Barre; granddaughters, Kristen Lanzilotta, Erin McGavin and Brynn Paul; grandsons, Phillip JP Scavone, Peter Monka, Albert and Adam Vosburg and John Phillip Nargoski; great-grandchildren, Declan,Teagan ,Drew, Dani, Dylan, Kenzie, Quinn, Easton and Anzor. Also surviving her is her very special niece, Candace Watkins, Florida, who was like another daughter to her.
Funeral services were entrusted to Graziano Funeral Home Inc., Pittston Twp.
All services will be held privately. The family would like to thank Dr. Cynthia Solomon and Residential Hospice for their care and compassion.
Joan will laid to rest in Memorial Shrine Park of Northeastern PA, Wyoming.
