John Allan Obituary

John A. Allan, 84, of Exeter passed away Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in West Pittston on Nov. 6, 1926, he was the son of the late Bud and Mary Mundy Allan.

He was a graduate of West Pittston High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving several awards in the Pacific.

He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, Exeter, and American Legion Post 558; and was an avid Notre Dame football fan.

He retired after 35 years with the Veterans Administration Hospital as an operating room technician.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin sister, Regina Gately.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Joan Kovaleski Allen; son, John Allan and his wife, Diane, Exeter Township; grandsons, John and his wife, Brittany; Michael and Joshua; son, Joseph Allan and his wife, Nancy, Exeter Township; and stepgrandson, Cameron Savage; sister, Theresa O'Donnell and her husband, Joseph, Palm Desert, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday from Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, Wyoming Avenue, Exeter. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
