John Frohman Obituary

John D. Frohman, a resident of Swoyersville, peacefully passed from his earthly home into God's heavenly palace early Wednesday morning, June 29, 2011, after a long, healthy and enjoyable life. His beloved wife was the late Regina P. Waskiewicz Frohman.

Born in Luzerne, John was the son of the late Andrew and Bertha Rynks Frohman. He was a longtime resident of Swoyersville, where he shared his life with his late wife, Regina.

John was a graduate of the former Luzerne High School. Following his high school graduation, he went on to further his education at the University of Scranton.

A U.S. Army veteran, John proudly served his country during World War II with Battery B of the 396th Field Artillery Battalion. During his time of service, John was stationed in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and Central Europe. Notably, he served as a sergeant with the 4th Armored Division under Gen. Patton. John was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the American Defense Service Medal and the European-African Service Medal with five bronze service stars. John was honorably discharged from active duty on Oct. 18, 1945.

Prior to his retirement, John was employed for many years as a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

A man of faith, John was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Swoyersville.

John was a devoted family man who treasured his family more than anything in this world. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, honesty and good humor to his cherished children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Andrew and Bertha Frohman, and his wife, Regina P. Frohman, John was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Frohman.

John is survived by his daughter, Lorraine Hontz and her husband. Don, Endicott, N.Y.; his son, John A. Frohman and his wife, Susan, Swoyersville; his grandchildren, Jason Hontz, Kristopher Hontz, Jeffrey Hontz, Michael Frohman and Jennifer Derr and her husband, Erik; his great-grandchildren, Kayley Gibbons, Joey Gibbons and Larissa Derr; his sisters, Helen Moody, Philadelphia; and Elizabeth (Betty) Findora, Kingston; his cousins, Margaret Nevolas and Marie Nevolas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 116 Hughes St., Swoyersville, with the Rev. Edward P. Lyman officiating.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, where military honors will be accorded.

Family and friends are invited to call from 9 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass on Saturday at the church.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
