John George Griffiths, 81, of Larksville, formerly of Wyoming, passed away peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
Born in Larksville, John was the son of the late Albert and Ida Griffiths. He was a 1958 graduate of Larksville High School. John spent much of his professional life working in management. For over 30 years, he worked for Turkey Hill. Prior to Turkey Hill, he worked for Louden Hill, Forty Fort, and Lazarus Department Store, Wilkes-Barre, where he met his wife of 59 years, Carol Mary Williams. After retirement from management, John worked as a crossing guard for Wyoming Borough.
John was a member of Wyoming United Methodist Church, Cherry Street Bible Church and he spent much of his life in volunteer organizations. He was a member of Wyoming Masonic Lodge 468, Keystone Consistory, Scranton, Irem Temple Motor Corps and was a former Judge of Elections for Wyoming Borough.
John was a kind, generous and thoughtful person and spent his entire life putting others first. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and he was involved in every activity his children and grandchildren were ever involved in. He was the first to offer help, never wanting any praise or recognition for his time or generosity. He will always be remembered for his kind heart and caring nature.
He was a lover of the Phillies and the Eagles and enjoyed watching his teams play. He had a passion for model trains that he passed down to his beloved grandsons. He enjoyed spending all his time with family including his granddogs Chole, Daisy, Charlie Brown, Razor and Harley whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Harold Griffiths.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Mary Griffiths; daughters Heather Hospodar and husband, John, Sweet Valley; and Rebecca Orlowski and husband, Sean, Swoyersville.
Also surviving are three beloved grandsons whom he loved more than anything, Brandon Orlowski, Swoyersville; and Johnny and Jeremy Hospodar, Sweet Valley; his two loving sisters, Almira and Shirley Griffiths, Larksville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff of The Gardens Wyoming Valley, Compassionate Care Hospice and the Rev. Dennis Gray for taking such good care of John during his illness and for treating him like family.
John has requested a private memorial at the convenience of the family.
