John Paul Kopicki, 44, of Kingston, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at his home.
John Paul was a 1997 graduate of Bishop O'Reilly High School. He was a 2001 graduate of Simmons School of Mortuary Science. He continued the family tradition and worked with his grandfather and father at AJ Kopicki Funeral home.
John Paul was an extraordinarily kind, gentle, humble man with a keen sense of humor who was known equally for both his bear hugs and one-liners. He had a way with words and always knew just the right thing to say. To know JP was to know loyalty beyond words. He was there for anyone, any four legged animal in need or even a stranger.
His family, faith and friends were a cherished part of his world. Spending time with his family and his dogs, Jasper and Sammy, was his favorite pastime. He was a rock for his siblings, who knew he was just a text or phone call away when they needed him.
When he wasn't spending time with family or Jasper and Sammy, he enjoyed many hobbies which included golf, Halloween decorating with his best friend, Dave, cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies, the Buffalo Bills and Penn State.
He was passionate about helping others and volunteered at his church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, any way he could.
John Paul is survived by his parents, Carol Buss, Forty Fort, and Mark Kopicki, Kingston; siblings, Megan Marx (John Marx), Kelsey Wolsieffer (Kyle Coslett), Luke Buss, Joseph and Daniel Kopicki.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Anna Mae Potomis, and Clare and Paul Kopicki; and stepfather, Mark Buss.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Swoyersville. Interment in Denison Cemetery will follow.

To Carol, Mark...and all of JP's family.
The words written above that express who John Paul was couldn't be any truer.
By God's grace, I have come to know the depths of who John Paul was, and that has been a gift to me. He lived a life of unwavering compassion for both people and animals...that wasn't some of the time, not even most of the time -- it's simply who he was.
His loss leaves me broken-hearted, and it will undoubtedly leave a tremendous void on this earth. But if you know JP, you know he didn't live his life for his loved one's to be left in pain.
May your hearts be filled with the peace and love he so wanted for all of you. I pray that will be of some comfort.
Rest peacefully, my friend.
