John Tibus Obituary
John E. Tibus, 86, of Hanover Twp., passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
He was born in Swoyersville, Nov. 28, 1937, the son of the late John E. Sr. and Anna Helen Zygo Tibus.
He was a graduate of St. Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre.
John was proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and Marksman Rifle M-1 and Carbine Medal.
He was employed at Carter Rubber until his retirement in 1985.
John was a member of New Apostolic Church, West Pittston. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed following all sports games and loved traveling to the beach for family vacations.
Preceding him in death were brother, Stephen Tibus; and sisters, Anna Saxon and Jennie Tibus.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Judy Fink Tibus, at home; daughter, Abigal Knappman and her husband, Kelly, Wilkes-Barre; one granddaughter, Amy Spencer and her husband, Andrew, Shickshinny; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Sophia and Ethan; sister, Stella Tibus, Swoyersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Exeter Twp.
Arrangements are from George A Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.
