Joseph T. Bartusiewicz, 85, a resident of Wilkes-Barre's Parsons neighborhood, passed into eternal life Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 16, 2021, in Pearsall Heart Hospital of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, following a prolonged illness.
Born Feb. 23, 1936, in Sugar Notch, he was the last of three sons to the late Joseph and Helen Buchoski Bartusevich. He attended and graduated from the former Sugar Notch schools.
Following his formal education, Mr. Bartusiewicz proudly served our country with the U.S. Army as a military police officer with the 307th MP Co. Corps., Wilkes-Barre.
Until his retirement, he was employed for many years as a route driver for Diamond Manufacturing, Wood Street, Wilkes-Barre.
He and his wife, Phyllis Pesotski Bartusiewicz, recently celebrated 61 years of married life together on Oct. 29.
One of his favorite pastimes was sitting on his front porch. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those he touched in this life.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Bartusiewicz, in 1986; and by brothers, Michael Bartsavage and John Bartusevich.
Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his beloved wife, Phyllis, are the couple's daughter, Diane Barnefiher and her husband, Gerry, Harleysville; grandchildren, Scott, Leanne, Kelly and Brian Barnefiher; along with several dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Bartusiewicz will be conducted with his funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Parish of St. Andre Bessette, 668 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Kenneth M. Seegar, pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, 1594 South Main St., Hanover Twp.
Relatives and friends may join Mrs. Bartusiewicz and her family for visitation and shared remembrances directly at church from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday.
