Joseph Catanzariti Obituary
His quick wit and warm sense of humor at family gatherings will be missed, but never forgotten. Joseph's warm personality touched all who came to know him. He enjoyed spending time with family, singing, telling jokes, making people smile, and boxing.
Joseph was born March 21, 1923, in Plains Township. He was the son of the late Samuel and Anna Catherine Zumpano Catanzariti. He was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School.
Joseph was an entrepreneur of several businesses, most notably a family business with his brothers, Casterline's Auto Sales. He was also a well-known chef at Pocono Gardens.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, Sam and Frankie, and his sisters, Kay Catanzariti, Theresa Pappadakis and Mary Mitchell.
Surviving are his children: his son, Ronald Casterline, Naples, Fla.; and his daughters, Sherri O'Brien and husband, Ed, Plains Township; Cynthia Smith and fiancé, Jim Dimirco, Wilkes-Barre Township; and Michelle Blakeslee and husband, Chuck, Blakeslee. Also surviving are his former wife, Lorraine Casterline, Ashley; sister-in-law and caregiver, Marge Catanzariti, and nephew, Mark Catanzariti, Kingston; his grandchildren, Jackie Ardoline and husband, Jason, Kelly and Kristen O'Brien, Tara, Justin and Charles Blakeslee; his great-grandchildren: Courtney and Gibson Ardoline; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a deep appreciation to the wonderful staff at River Run Nursing Home and to the Heartland Hospice.
Family and friends are welcome to attend Joseph's celebration of life at 1:30 p.m. Friday, with a Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, 339 N. Maple Ave., Kingston.
Arrangements are entrusted to Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, Plains Township.
