Joseph D. Ebert, 49, of Kingston and formerly of Rees Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 6, 2022, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.
Born Nov. 29, 1972, in Wilkes-Barre, Joseph was the youngest of five children born to the late Joseph S. and Dolores M. Dambrauskas Ebert.
Raised in Wilkes-Barre, Joe was a graduate of the former GAR Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, where he was a standout member of his high school's wrestling, baseball and golf teams. He went on to attend Lackawanna Junior College, Scranton, before accepting a full baseball scholarship to North Adams University, Massachusetts, where he acquired his Bachelor of Science degree in social science with a minor in psychology.
Joe, along with his father and brothers, was co-owner of the former Ebert's Health and Fitness Center, Wilkes-Barre.
He also worked at his father's business, the former National Motors, Wilkes-Barre; for his brother, David, at his business, Chemseal Blacktop Maintenance of NEPA; and as a substitute teacher for Nanticoke Area School District, serving as the high school wrestling coach and president of the Wrestling Booster Club. Later, he went on to work as an armed security guard for Dunbar, Olyphant, and AmeriGuard Security at the Social Security Administration Complex, Wilkes-Barre.
Renowned for being a national competitive body builder, Joe competed all over the east coast, receiving many awards and accolades throughout the years he competed.
In addition to his parents, Joseph and Dolores Ebert, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, David J. Ebert.
Joe is survived by his three beloved siblings, Gloria (Bill) Hockenbury, Green Cove Springs, Fla.; Christopher (Sharon) Ebert, Archbald; and Bonnie (Joseph) Percevault, Saint Johns, Fla.; his loving companion, Kathryn "Katie" Wiedlich, Kingston; his eight nephews and nieces, Bryce Ebert; Ryan and Lauren Hockenbury; Christopher Ebert Jr.; Rachel Kenney; Michael DiMatteo; and Mallory and Morganne Percevault; his great-nephew, Reece Hockenbury; as well as his aunts, cousins and countless friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 10:15 a.m. Friday from Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, followed by a blessing service with the Rite of Committal at 11 a.m. in Mary Mother of God Mausoleum Chapel of St. Mary's Cemetery, 1594 S. Main St., Hanover Twp. Burial will immediately follow the service. Family and Friends are invited to Joe's viewing which will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dear Chris, Bonnie, Gloria and the Ebert family, please accept my deepest condolences on Joe's passing.
