Joseph C. Gryskiewicz, 91, of Nanticoke, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 21, 2022, in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Twp.
He was born in Nanticoke, Oct. 13, 1930, and was the son of the late Joseph and Celia Naguszemski Gryskiewicz and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Nanticoke.
He also attended Nanticoke schools.
Joseph was employed in retail sales for Bergman's Department Store for over 35 years.
He was an Army veteran serving with the rank of SP3, proudly serving in White Sands, New Mexico.
Also, he was the inspiration for house bill 163 that was passed into law in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, the former Margaret M. Miller, who passed away in 2006; and his brother, John Kryzanski.
Surviving are his son, Joseph G. Gryskiewicz, Nanticoke; daughter, Margaret E. Romanowski and husband, James, Nanticoke; three grandchildren, James J. Romanowski, Mertztown; Aubrey Gryskiewicz, Sarasota, Fla.; and Collin Gryskiewicz, Dallas; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday from Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C., 51 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with services held by the Rev. Robin Williams, of the First Presbyterian Church, Nanticoke. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to funeral time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA or Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge.

Joe lived next door to my grandparents. He enjoyed archery hunting and I accompanied him on some of those hunts up. He was a pleasant man and easy to get along with. Sympathies to his son Joe and daughter Meg.

Sending out prayes in this sad time. Uncle Joe was always so funny love the times when we would all go camping at cousin Alice place. Will keep you all in our prayers and thoughts.

Joe was my neighbor. He was a great guy. Always handing me tomatoes and cucumbers! He will be missed. My condolences to his family.
