Joseph Gary "Butch or Boston Joe" Lanteigne, 80, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in Bay Pines VA Hospital, Florida.
Born Feb. 23, 1944, he was a son to the late Joseph O. and Deneige Morrisette Lanteigne. Joseph had been a former resident of Plymouth.
Joseph was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as an airplane mechanic stationed in Dover, Del., during the Vietnam War era. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career as a carpenter with Carpenters Union Local 445, from which he retired after 35 years of dedicated service.
Known for his quick wit, sense of humor and tenacity, Joseph was also sometimes stubborn, traits that endeared him to many. He was an active supporter of several veterans organizations and served as past commander of the Black Diamond American Legion Post 395 in Kingston. His leisure time was often spent enjoying cruises, trips to Las Vegas, camping, visits to the beach and riding his scooter around town.
Joseph is survived by his companion of 21 years, Jan Godown, St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter, Lisa (Tony) Kornetka, Dunmore; son, Paul (Nicole) Lanteigne, Plymouth; grandchildren, Chad and Torrie Eckrote; great-grandchildren, Chad, Arabella, Joseph, Bentley and Chase; sister, Sharon Wark, Lufkin, Texas; brother, Carlton (Barbara) Lanteigne, Bedford, N.H.; sisters-in-law, Karen Lanteigne, Shirley, Mass.; Louise Minuski, Kingston; and Irene Minuski, Barnegat, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Jean Minuski Lanteigne; sister, Gail Lanteigne; and brother, Michael A. Lanteigne.
Funeral service and military honors will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth. Private interment will take place in Oakdale Cemetery, Hunlock Creek.
Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. to service time.

My big brother! (Butch), I will surely miss you. We had so many good times growing up, too many to mention. You were always there for me, Mike, Sharon, Mom and Dad. What else can I say, but thank you!
Your Brother Carlton.
